The Engineering Project Management: Principles and Practice course is designed to provide budding engineers with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in managing projects effectively. It covers the fundamental concepts, methods, and tools utilized in project management, focusing on the distinct challenges and considerations faced by engineers. The topics covered are mapped to the major stages of a project, namely project initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing. The course also touches upon engineering-specific challenges and ethical considerations in project management. Through lectures, case studies, and practical exercises, students will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to proficiently handle projects and achieve successful results. This face-to-face course will engage students in interactive discussions, group activities, and hands-on exercises to enhance and cement their understanding of key project management concepts and techniques. The course will not only equip students with project management skills but also require the meaningful use of technology, such as Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) tools, in project planning.
