LA5101 ADVANCED ARABIC LANGUAGE

This course is an unrestricted elective (UE) for any undergraduate student who has sat for the `O' Level Arabic 3180 & 1135 examinations or any equivalent Arabic Language assessment. You will develop an understanding of spoken and written forms of Arabic Language from a variety of registers. This will enable you to communicate confidently and clearly in the foreign language. You should expect lessons which reinforce previous knowledge and exposure to new elements of morphology and lexicon of the Arabic Language. You will gain confidence and fluency in speaking Arabic in authentic settings as well as form a sound base of skills, language and attitudes required for further study, work and leisure. This module also aims to further your intellectual and personal development by promoting learning, gaining social skills as well as encouraging positive attitudes to language learning and a sympathetic approach to other cultures and civilisations. It will also help you develop greater insights into the culture and civilisation of the Arabs. The module matches the level B2 for CEFR
