This course aims to provide an introduction of theoretical concepts and professional practice of audiovisual translation (AVT); practical experience of screen translation between Chinese and English; opportunities to be involved in and lead group projects; an awareness of pragmatics in cross-cultural communication; and guidance in developing knowledge of cross-cultural communication through analysing audiovisual materials, identifying problems facing audiovisual translators, and discussing potential solutions. The course is conducted in Mandarin.
