This course provides students with an advanced introduction to empirical findings, methods, and theoretical perspectives on the psychology of self-regulation. The general goals of this course are to introduce main concepts and findings in the field and to develop a scientific understanding of how we regulate our emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in the pursuit of our goals. This course aims to equip students with an awareness of the current understanding and controversies surrounding the conceptualisation and measurement of self-regulation, and its applicability across cognitive, social, developmental, and affective domains within psychology.
