This course is a survey of China thought from the ancient period down to the present-day. It introduces you to the important gures and ideas associated with traditional schools of thought such as Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism. The course also analyzes the impact of Western ideas on Chinese thinking in the modern and contemporary periods. This course is a core requirement for students majoring in Chinese.
