This hands-on course covers the fundamentals of writing for mass media, with an emphasis on reaching publics that are diverse and demanding. Students will learn how to write news stories for print and broadcast, public relation releases, and advertising copy. While introducing students to the differing needs of the various media industries, the separate strands of the course collectively reinforce common principles such as accuracy, honesty and integrity in communication, as well as an appreciation of clear, concise and effective writing.
