This course is tailored for students with a foundational understanding of structural biology and aims to deepen their knowledge and skills in electron microscopy (EM), with a particular focus on single particle analysis (SPA). The curriculum will cover the fundamental principles of EM and guide students through advanced image processing techniques for determining three-dimensional structures of macromolecular protein complexes. Spanning approximately 65 contact hours, the course includes hands-on laboratory sessions in electron microscopy, providing students with direct experience in image acquisition and data analysis. Practical training will involve the use of state-of-the-art software tools such as cryoSPARC and RELION, conducted in small groups to maximize individual engagement and skill development.
