This course aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of epigenomics - the study of heritable changes in gene expression that do not involve changes to the underlying DNA sequence. You'll explore the molecular mechanisms behind epigenetic regulation, such as DNA methylation, histone modification, chromatin remodeling, 3D genome organization, the techniques used to study such processes and learn how these processes influence development, cellular differentiation, and disease. You'll conduct journal clubs in groups to develop your abilities to read papers and think scientifically. Designed for Year 3 and 4 undergraduates, this course is ideal if you're interested in advancing to postgraduate research, entering the biotechnology or biomedical industries, or pursuing careers in clinical or diagnostic genomics. By taking this course, you will gain both theoretical knowledge and skills that are increasingly vital in modern genomic medicine and research.
